1/29/11 Forecast

January 29, 2011 Forecast
Courtesy HPC

After a beautiful day like today it is hard to believe it is still January.  It is also hard to believe that there is a possibility for severe weather this week, but alas, there is that possibility.  The rain will begin moving in beginning tomorrow and tomorrow night as a low pressure center sits to our west.  This system will give us a chance of precip. through Tuesday when we will see a possibility for some storms to be strong to severe, as a cold front moves through bringing our high temperatures from the 60’s to the upper 40’s.  This will give us a reminder that even though we live in the south it is indeed still winter (as deceptive as today might have been).

Tonight-clouds begin moving in, lows in the upper 40’s
Tomorrow- cloudy, showers in the afternoon, highs in the 60’s
Sunday night-showers, lows in the upper 40’s
Monday- Showers and possibly a thunderstorm, Highs in the upper 60’s
Monday Night- a few showers, lows in the mid 50’s
Tuesday-Showers and thunderstorms, some may be severe, highs in the mid 60’s

Forecast for the week

Hello Friends!
Today is a beautiful day in the area, but the week is looking a little less beautiful.  Starting tomorrow night we are going to see the possibility of rain in our forecast, luckily it looks like our temperatures should stay above freezing through Tuesday during the day, but then our temperatures will take a steep dive into the twenties Tuesday night once a cold front moves into our area and creating the small possibility for some wintry precipitation (nothing too exciting though).  Our highs are going to be staying in the 40's the rest of the week, so be sure to stay bundled, but at least the sun will return!

Jackson, MS Forecast Discussion for Monday

FORECAST DISCUSSION
JACKSON, MS 01-10-11
CURRENT MODELS ARE SHOWING A SMALL AMOUNT PRECIPITATION CONTINUING FOR THE JACKSON AREA UNTIL AROUND 6AM MONDAY MORNING.  MOST OF THE PRECIPITATION WILL BE FREEZING RAIN AND SLEET BUT THE PRECIPITATION SHOULD BE MINIMAL.  AS THE LOW IN THE GULF MOVES EASTWARD THERE WILL STILL BE A POSSIBLITY TO SEE FREEZING RAIN UNTIL AROUND 2PM.  TEMPERATURES MONDAY MORNING WILL BE IN THE LOWER 30’S AND SLOWLY WARM UP TO AROUND 38 BY THE AFTERNOON, BUT SKIES WILL REMAIN OVERCAST THROUGHOUT THE DAY.  WHEN NIGHT FALLS TEMPERATURES WILL FALL BACK INTO THE LOWER 30’S.  THE OVERCAST SKIES WILL INHIBIT MAJOR HEATING AND CONTRIBUTE TO THE TEMPERATURES STAYING IN THE 30’S ALL DAY.  THIS WILL ALSO MAKE DRIVING HAZARDOUS, AS IT WILL NOT ALLOW MUCH OF THE ICE ON THE ROADS TO MELT.
DURING THE DAY WINDS WILL SHIFT FROM THE SOUTHWEST TO THE SOUTH AS THE LOW CONTINUES TO MOVE EAST, AND THE ARCTIC AIR MASS WILL CONTINUE TO EFFECT TEMPERATURES IN THE AREA.   THE SYSTEM SHOULD BE COMPLETELY OUT OF THE JACKSON AREA BY NOON ON MONDAY, BUT WILL LEAVE IN ITS WAKE A COLD DRY WEEK.
